Bigmax TC100 Truck Mounted Cranes for Sale

About The TC100 Compact Hydraulic Crane

BigMax is a popular brand in crane industry. TC100 is the smallest among the line of compact hydraulic cranes. The TC100 crane has proportional controls for all functions including lifting, slewing, and extending.

There is also one extra fourth control function which can be used for hydraulic outrigger stabilizers,  winches, etc.

How TC100 Compact Hydraulic Crane Works

The TC100 stows completely in just over two square feet of deck area making it one of the best features of its compact design.  The boom, which extends to 9.2 ft from the center line of rotation, retracts to only 3.9 ft. and can lift 1,760 lbs at this point.

With the small footprint of this crane, it makes it possible to mount inside the doorway of a van to swing a load in or out.  With the boom in a horizontal position, the TC-100 will also lift in an overhead space of only 5.5 feet above the surface of the deck.

Radio Controls for Hydraulic Truck Cranes

As with most crane manufacturers, Drive Products, has always offered the option of a factory installed radio system on their BIGMAX line of small hydraulic truck cranes.

However, unlike other crane companies, Drive Products now offers a state-of-the-art wireless remote control system which has the advantage of affordability and ease in being retrofitted onto all standard Bigmax cranes that are already in service.

Radio-Controls-for-BIGMAX-Cranes

Drive Products’s new radio control system utilizes the proven Hetronic Hand Held MFSHL Series transmitter, and a multi section electronic valve providing proportional control for all functions.

To operate, the function is selected by engaging a toggle switch and the speed is controlled by depressing or releasing a trigger.  The hand held transmitter is available with 4 functions with or without additional PMW toggle switches for other non crane functions.  The radio transmitter is available with up to 6 toggle switches, three of which are used to operate the crane. The remaining switches can be supplied in various configurations from PMW momentary-on to 3 position type. The additional switches are typically used to activate boom-mounted hammers, hydraulic outrigger stabilizers and winches.

The multi-function control valve has a flow control section with a flow divider that controls the operating speed of all the hydraulic functions.  The electronic control valve is both sectional and proportional and includes man-sized emergency, manual over-ride levers. This safety feature will allow the crane to be operated manually in the event of an electrical problem, or if the transmitter is lost or broken.  The wiring harness, which uses DIN connectors, is weather proofed for outdoor use and can even be used on both lines of Marine Cranes sold by Drive Products.

New MARINE CRANES Website for Drive Products

Drive Products, a leader among crane companies that distribute truck cranes to Canada, the United States, Central & South America, has just announced the launch of two new lines of Marine Cranes.

These hydraulic marine cranes are available in two complementary lines:

1) The BIGMAX mono-boom telescopic cranes are smaller and less expensive, while still offering the features that make them suitable for exposure to corrosive ocean conditions and harsh marine weather.

2) The Amco Veba articulated cranes are larger and have a longer reach, the benefit of additional boom articulation and a higher lift capacity.

Drive Products’s staff are marine specialists and have been supplying cranes to the marine industry since 1990. Both brands of marine cranes are excellent choices for cargo handling or workboats in a wide variety of applications including:

  • the Canadian Coast Guard
  • the Department of Fisheries and Oceans
  • fire and emergency response boats
  • patrol boats, barges and tugs
  • commercial vessels including fishing, aquaculture, crab & lobster boats
  • small private vessels and docks for lake or coastal use

A BIGMAX knuckle boom crane is suitable for a pickup truck, flat deck truck, utility trailer or mounted to a service dock. Small Crane for Trailer used as Materials Handling Equipment

Small Crane for Trailer used as Materials Handling Equipment

75% of the hydraulic cranes sold by crane companies in North America are smaller sized cranes which lend themselves to on-line purchasing for several reasons. These articulating truck cranes are less complex, have fewer options and are easier to install than a larger capacity truck crane which is more job specific and requires more specialized chassis and options.

As one of the most highly regarded crane manufacturers, BIGMAX provides a 2 year warranty with all their electric or hydraulic cranes along with detailed installation instructions.

For a limited time period, freight will be pre-paid to any destination in the United States or Canada. Call Sales Manager Don Rice toll free at 1-877-531-8644 for a quote on available cranes for sale or for additional information!

Compare BIGMAX Truck Cranes to Maxilift Cranes

In the USA and Canada, Drive Products was instrumental in developing and establishing the small crane market.

Initially, the main deficiency of Maxi-lift cranes was the vulnerable and poorly protected rotation system, which is most profound in the 160 size as well as in the smaller versions. Instead of being enclosed and protected from the elements, the slewing gear mechanism is only shielded by a fragile plastic cover that regularly broke in transit from the manufacturer in Europe.

Eventually, an effort was made in the larger MaxiLift models to enclose the slewing gears by protecting them from the side, inside a fabricated steel vertical pipe, with a rubber cover that was loose on the outside.  However, this design allowed the outside of the rubber hat to lift at normal road speeds of the crane truck which created an opening where sand, salt and other road debris could enter and cause the slewing system to fail prematurely. This very same design, probably because of its low cost, is still used by Maxilift on their truck crane today.

To solve this problem, all BIGMAX cranes are built with steel slewing gear enclosures – fabricated steel for the  TC-100 version, and cast steel in all other TC models with the gears running in an oil bath. This design has proven to be much more reliable and long lasting which enables Drive Products to offer every crane for sale with a 2 year warranty.

How To Choose A Small Truck Crane

Are you looking for a small truck crane? Here is some basic information. Small truck cranes generally can lift up to 5,000 lbs. This is referred to as a lift capacity of 5,000 lbs. with a lift moment of 25,000 ft. lbs or 3.5 t/m. Small articulating cranes are often matched with trucks under 15,000# GVW  such as the Ford 550. If you are in the market for a small truck with crane, you would likely be using the crane intermittently. In this case, the crane would be powered by the truck battery.

Drive Products is a leader among small crane companies and BIGMAX cranes are one of the best small cranes in the marketplace.  They come in a range of types and styles including knuckle boom cranes and telescopic cranes.

Wholesale crane inquiries are welcome by calling Drive Products.
